As a product designer, I had the opportunity to work with Virgin Holidays.

Virgin Holidays, a leading travel company, specialises in creating exceptional holiday experiences for its customers. In this role, I was responsible for designing and improving their mobile app and the "Manage My Booking" section, my aim would be to enhance the overall customer journey and deliver a seamless and delightful user experience.

Designing the Manage My Booking section

The Manage My Booking section is a crucial component of the overall user experience, allowing customers to view and modify their travel details. Here, the focus was enhancing usability and providing easy access to relevant information.

Identifying problems

The main problems identified in MMB (Manage my Booking) circled around visual appeal, discoverability of priority information, general usability and communication between the customer.

Solutions

  • Clearer Dashboard: Designing a visually appealing and informative dashboard that provides an overview of the customer's booking details, booking documents, outstanding payments, flight information, accommodations, and itinerary.

  • Personalisation and Notifications: Incorporating personalisation features to tailor the information displayed based on the customer's preferences and previous interactions. Additionally, integrating push notifications to keep customers informed about any changes or updates to their bookings.

  • Modification and Cancellation: Designing intuitive interfaces that allow customers to easily modify or cancel their bookings. Providing clear and concise instructions, along with tooltips or contextual help, can prevent any potential confusion or errors.

  • Seamless Communication: Integrating communication channels such as live chat or in-app messaging, enabling customers to reach out to customer support easily. This fostered a sense of trust and ensures prompt assistance whenever needed.
