Joining an early startup and creating a design team to enhance enterprise-level procurement in the Med-tech and Pharma industries. Vamstars mission in the early days was to improve tender discovery, and tender participation including bidding and price optimisation using machine learning and artificial intelligence to ultimately build an marketplace for buyers and suppliers.

Identifying problems
We initially identified problems relating to lack of opportunity visibility; unknown tender requirements; length of time it takes to participate; difficulty in accessing supporting resources; irrelevant content; and lastly lack of communications between buyer and supplier. We later discovered additional problems faced from both a buyers perspective as well as a suppliers perspective once their personas were established.
Ideation
After several rounds of testing and in conjunction with the sales team, it was identified that there were several gaps. Some larger industry-wide problems not easily solved. When we started off in the early days, information provided was very limited, but as we expanded and did more qualitative research, we iterated over the designs to solve some of the identified problems.
